Green HEV Range Expands For 2026

SDLG has added new hybrid models to its HEV line-up for 2026, extending electrification across both the loader and excavator ranges — without changing how crews actually work the machines.

The additions build on the L958HEV, which has been running on Irish sites since last year. The hybrid driveline recovers energy during braking and boom-down cycles and feeds it back on acceleration and lift, so the engine spends far less time at peak load. In yard-loading and quarry work — short cycles, constant direction changes — that is where most of the fuel goes.

What changes for the operator

Nothing, deliberately. Controls, service points and attachment interfaces are unchanged from the diesel equivalents. There is no plug, no charging routine and no change to the daily walkaround. Operators moving between a diesel and a hybrid in the same fleet do not need retraining.

“The crews didn’t notice a difference in how it worked. The fuel card noticed.”
